About Lorqesia

Lorqesia is a small candle house. We pour a soy wax blend into matte stoneware, band each vessel in glazed mulberry, and finish it with a lid so the vessel outlives the wax. Thirteen scents, one size, one wick. Nothing in the range exists to fill a gap on a shelf.

One wax, thirteen scents

Every Lorqesia candle uses the same base: a 100% soy wax blend, one cotton wick, 12 oz (340 g) in the vessel. Holding the base steady is what lets us compare scents honestly. When Fig burns differently from Driftwood, that is the fragrance talking, not a different wax, a different wick or a different jar.

The range is built in four families. Warm & Sweet covers vanilla sugar, hazelnut coffee, gingerbread and cinnamon apple. Woods & Winter is evergreen, driftwood and holly berry. Fruit runs dark cherry, fig, citrus agave and coconut. Floral & Herbal is lavender and eucalyptus mint. Most people settle into one family and stay there.

What goes in

Soy wax, fragrance oil, a flat-braid cotton wick, and a stoneware vessel glazed in a band of deep mulberry. No paraffin, no dye, no lead or zinc in the wick core. We check every vessel for a true rim before it is filled, because a warped rim means a lid that does not sit flat, and a lid that does not sit flat lets the scent go stale on the shelf.

The vessel is the part we spend the most on. It is heavy, it holds heat evenly, and when the wax is gone it washes out with hot water and takes pens, brushes, cotton buds or a small plant.

Two weeks of quiet

Poured candles go onto the curing shelf and stay there for two weeks. Soy wax keeps binding to fragrance oil long after it looks solid, and a candle lit too early throws a thin, short-lived scent. The wait is the least glamorous part of the process and the one that changes the result most.

Each candle burns for roughly 60 hours. The first burn matters: give it two to three hours so the melt pool reaches the edge of the vessel, and trim the wick to about 5 mm before every burn after that. Full instructions are on our care and materials page.
